Today I applied for a position that I feel that I have a pretty good shot at. It's called a Hospice support position, but really it's a part time volunteer coordinator and part time administrative assistant. Here is the description of the position:
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible to support the Hospice and Pediatric Palliative Care Volunteer Program for IHC Hospice of Salt Lake. Will help establish and implement recruitment and retention strategies and activities. Will help maintain a competent volunteer staff through the recruitment and interviewing of applicants who will be sufficient to meet agency needs. Assists with the coordination/placement of volunteers to meet patient, family, and departmental needs. Monitors that volunteers are recording interventions and communications utilizing appropriate forms and procedures consistent with agency record policies. Demonstrates cost effective and proper usage of resources. Demonstrates attitude and behavior, which fosters exceptional customer service. Takes ownership for meeting customer's needs and resolving concerns/issues appropriately. Demonstrates keen problem identification skills and resolution abilities. Demonstrates confidentiality and sensitivity to patient and family rights according to IHC policy. Will be a general support to Volunteer Consultant.

Health care experience.
Previous experience in Home Health/Hospice.
Previous experience as a volunteer.
Previous experience in event planning/coordination.

It pays $13.32hr which is pretty decent for here. It will be almost a $2.50hr raise which would be a great help with all that will be happening in the next few months/year. However, I don't have it yet, so we'll see how it goes.
Finally, The Judith has continued her apparent vow of silence, but hopefully she will soon be more willing to share her "feelings" with everyone, like she asked me to do with her so many times when I was younger. So we will continue the collage of THE JUDITH.
